Trained as a classical singer in opera and jazz, Minnesota-based artist Dizzy Fae incorporates her schooling into a fusion of R&B, hip hop, and '80s-pop-influenced songs, attracting the attention of artists like Lizzo and Toro y Moi, who have brought her out on tour. Today's featured track sees her teaming up with production artists Sen 09 and Psymun. “I'm a big believer in the idea that life is a collaboration, and I have a very strong team,” she told Billboard Magazine.
In the same interview, she reflected on her upbringing and the impact it had on her music. "Growing up queer, of color and biracial, in Minnesota or anywhere, is not something that you can so easily categorize or place. It's something I'm still figuring out how to articulate.” She adds, “I want to say I was an outcast, but I don't wanna emphasize that too much, because I was always OK with being an outcast."
