  • If you missed the SIFF screening of the Nick Cave semi-documentary 20,000 Days On Earth, you'll be excited to know the film will see a nationwide release on September 19th. To commemorate the release, Cave shares a previously unreleased track from the Push the Sky Away sessions, including the track "Give Us a Kiss" which you can stream below: [Spin]

  • “Wait, what happened to the Old Pornographers?” — Canadian supergroup The New Pornographers stopped by Late Show with David Letterman last night where the veteran TV host expressed his concerns. The new crew gave a rousing performance of the title track of their new album, Brill Bruisers. The band will be LIVE on KEXP on Monday, October 6th, and playing two nights at The Showbox on Sunday, October 5th and Monday, October 6th. [Consequence of Sound]

  • NW faves Modest Mouse will be reissuing two of their classic albums this fall: 1996's This Is A Long Drive For Someone With Nothing To Think About and 1997's The Lonesome Crowded West. Both reissues will include previously unreleased tracks, like "White Lies, Yellow Teeth" which you can stream below. Long Drive comes out October 28th and Lonesome Crowded West on November 4th, on Fat Possum and Isaac Brock’s own Glacial Pace label. [Under the Radar]

  • BIMM Dublin University has just announced the Kevin Shields Music Production Scholarship, named for the frontman of My Bloody Valentine. The course description states students will "learn about the technology and techniques required to produce music across a wide range of contexts from traditional studio recording to film, television, animation, multimedia and live environments." Shields himself says, "It's a good opportunity for a young producer to learn all about sound and techniques, it's a cool course." [Pitchfork]
