It's been nine years since Seabear released their sophomore album We Built a Fire (actually their third album if you count 2002's self-released I'm Me on Sundays), but the Icelandic group returned late last month with the single "Waterphone" via Morr Music. The band began as an outlet for singer/songwriter Sindri Már Sigfússon but soon blossomed into a seven piece band, including Gudbjörg Hlin Gudmundsdottir, Ingibjörg Birgisdóttir, Halldór Ragnarsson, Örn Ingi Ágústsson, Kjartan Bragi Bjarnason, and Sóley Stefánsdóttir (a frequent visitor to KEXP). "The time was just right now. It's just like love, sometimes it just comes," Halldór toild Icelandic newspaper Fréttablaðið. "You don't necessarily decide it. Everyone went on a little vacation and was on other assignments. We are such a big family. We traveled around the world for four years constantly and got a little tired. It's just a logical continuation, we're older and more mature now."
Seabear will be LIVE on KEXP from our Iceland Airwaves broadcast at KEX Hostel today, Thursday, November 7th, at 11:00 AM PST / 07:00 PM GMT.
