Every Monday through Friday, we deliver a different song as part of our Song of the Day podcast subscription. This podcast features exclusive KEXP in-studio performances, unreleased songs, and recordings from independent artists that our DJs think you should hear. Today’s selection, featured on The Morning Show with John Richards, is “Buck” by Seattle duo SISTERS from their forthcoming album, Drink Champagne, to be self-released on February 25th.

SISTERS - Buck (MP3)Seattle duo SISTERS claim that "their only goal is to make you feel, and feel good." And while they certainly live up to that claim in the studio, they exceed it in the live setting. They are masters of crafting music but they are legends at crafting community. Their live shows are giant parties of good feelings, which is why, with only an EP under their name, they were able to tour and sell out venues well outside of the Seattle comfort zone. So it comes as no surprise their first full length album is titled after a drink of celebration. And if the first two tracks are any indication, Drink Champagne will be a release well worth celebrating. For those not familiar, SISTERS craft spontaneous and somewhat industrial beats and inject them with optimistic synth-pop and irresistible hooks. The final output is genuinely catchy pop tunes of epic proportions. Song of the day and album cut "Buck" is a perfect example of this, and gives you all the feelings that raising a glass at the end of a toast or a New Years Eve ball drop would. Featuring drums and a hook that would make Phil Collins blush, the track uses isolated piano chords and a huge chorus to hit the perfect tonal balance between melancholy and celebratory. But most importantly, it cements the fact that as long as SISTERS is making music, no one need feel alone. KEXP is presenting two album release shows for SISTERS at Sole Repair Shop with an all star cast of Pacific Northwest talent as support. On Feburary 16, the group will be joined by and collaborate with Molly Sides of Thunderpussy, Bryan John Appleby, Marika Justad of Tangerine and Tilson XOXO. On Feburary 17, the lineup includes Manatee Commune, Galen Disston of Pickwick, Porter Ray and Minden. Tickets for those shows can be bought through the band's website.
