This Sunday, January 15th, KEXP is proud to present the 17th Annual Expansions MLK Unity Party, taking place this year at the Northwest African American Museum! The celebration begins at 6:00 PM and will be all ages from 6:00 – 9:00 PM, with the LIVE Broadcast happening from 9:00 PM to Midnight and the party ending at 1:00 AM. This will be the first time the entire crew -– Masa, Riz, Kid Hops -- will be together, with the latest rotating host additions Alex Ruder and me, Sharlese Metcalf! All five of the hosts will be spinning throughout the night, playing special curated sets especially for the party! Join us as we gather together to celebrate the life and work of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

KEXP’s Expansions has partnered with community organizations Gender Justice League, TeenTix, NOOR and Northwest Immigrant Rights Project. These nonprofits will be on site to talk about their important work and to provide outreach materials About Northwest African American MuseumNorthwest African American Museum's mission is to spread knowledge, understanding and enjoyment of the histories, arts and cultures of people of African descent for the enrichment of all by working with others to present and preserve the connections between the Pacific Northwest and people of African descent; and investigating and celebrating Black experiences in America. About Gender Justice LeagueThe Gender Justice League empowers trans activists and our allies to fight oppression based on gender & sexuality in Washington State and to create a community where trans people can live their lives safely, true to themselves, and free from discrimination.

About TeenTixTeenTix builds a bright future for our city by empowering young people to take an active role in shaping their arts community as audience members, critics, influencers, advocates, patrons, and leaders. About NOORAn all-inclusive LGBTQI (and Questioning) confidential meeting space for individuals in the greater Seattle area that have ever identified as Muslim. About Northwest Immigrant Rights ProjectNorthwest Immigrant Rights Project promotes justice by defending and advancing the rights of immigrants through direct legal services, systemic advocacy, and community education.
