The 2015 Concerts at the Mural series kicked off with record-breaking attendance last Friday, August 1st at Seattle Center's Mural Amphitheater. It helped that, not only was the weather beautiful, but the line-up was just as hot. Families, friends, and fans gathered on the lawn, enjoying ice cream or beer and wine.

The only thing sunnier than the weather was Seattle's own Tangerine, whose infectious indie-pop shined on the Mural Amphitheater stage. The surf rock quartet, led by siblings Marika and Miro Justad, rode the sonic waves of their most-recent EP, Behemoth. You can catch the band again on Saturday, August 22nd at the Summit Block Party.

Portland band The Shivas braved the gnarly Friday traffic on I-5 to be with us that night, bringing their rollicking, retro-sounding garage rock to the stage. The harmonies from vocalists Jared Wait-Molyneux and Kristin Leonard have never sounded sweeter. The band just finished recording a new full-length, titled Better Off Dead, with engineer and co-producer Calvin Johnson, who will be releasing the album soon on his own K Records.

And then Other Lives took the stage, surely sweating beneath those burly beards in the hot Seattle sun. But, if they were uncomfortable, they didn't show it, as they stomped and shouted their way through a beautiful set, spotlighting their latest full-length Rituals.

Live Video: Briana Marela

Although the title of Briana Marela's debut derives from a kids book about the physical world around us, the album itself best describes our state of adulthood in immaterial ways. In recording All Around Us, the Seattle native sought the elven shores of Iceland and the sprightly touch of Sigur Ros …
