The Seattle four-piece, Ghost Pains, will, as their band interest implies, jay walk right into your heart. Unabashed and unafraid of whatever might be between you and their sound, the band will meet and greet you with their heavy, punk-rock aesthetic. And when they reach your ears, their self-admitted "soft creamy center" will remind you that there is always a deep level of care and compassion whenever the band is present and playing.
All of this is supremely evident on their latest single, "Kids for Rent". The song kicks into full stride from the outset, with a gust of guitar and quick, propelling drums. The vocals caution ever so slightly but their tone implies a sense of forwardness into the child-like and cheering chorus. The record never slows until it comes to a full stop, waiting for you to offer, of course, what you've got in return.
The band - featuring David E. Martin, Rob Van Oss, Jamie Paul Rizzo and Mica Crisp - celebrated the release of their new EP, Stealing Tomorrow, on Tuesday and the album is now available online as well as at Sonic Boom in Ballard and Easy Street in West Seattle.
