  • French rockers, Phoenix have shared the video for the newest cut off their recent Bankrupt! album. "Trying To Be Cool" really lives up to its title by featuring as many hip elements as possible. According to a press release, "the resulting video, chock full of sparklers, confetti canons, fake money, a Marilyn Monroe impersonator, motorcycles, fake mustaches, and much much more, is unlike any you’ve ever seen." I'd have to agree. [CoS]

  • Today, Beck has dropped "I Won't Be Long", a slick new song that shows off his softer side. This dreamy song will be released as a 12" record on July 8. Beck has also announced that he will drop an acoustic album later this year. [Pitchfork]

  • Jamie Lidell's video for his new single "Big Love" has to be one of the best grooves of the summer so far. The song makes me feel like I'm back in the days of Flashdance and it's glorious. In the video, the Cincinnati dance troupe Q-Kidz steal the show. Their sharp moves and bedazzled leotards are to die for. [CoS]

  • Scottish indie pop outfit, Belle and Sebastian, decided to revamp their 2004 song "Your Cover's Blown" with the assistance of Glasgow producer Miaoux Miaoux. The result is a dazzling dance number that explores so many psychedelic layers in less than five minutes. The band has more new music coming, an 19-track compilation entitled The Third Eye Centre is due out in August. [Stereogum]

  • They've been an indie powerhouse for decades, but sadly we hadn't hear any new material from The Chills since 1996. Surprisingly enought, the New Zealanders ended their silence today. Check out their charming new jam "Molten Gold" below and see if you think it was worth the 17 year wait. [Stereogum]
