It’s time again for Friday on My Mind our weekly blog post that is centered around one common theme. This is a collaborative effort between KEXP and King 5 News.

We present to our listeners the finest in musical performances and this is not confined just to the walls of our current home at Dexter and Denny. We spread the KEXP love all around the city, state, country and world. Our presence can be felt at festivals such as the Capitol Hill Block Party right here in Seattle, or at the Sasquatch! Music Festival up at the Gorge in George, Washington. We've even expanded internationally with our broadcasts from Reykjavik, Iceland for the Iceland Airwaves Festival. Here are a few of our most recent favorite remote sessions:

The Lumineers - Submarines (from Barboza for the Capitol Hill Block Party)

The Denver trio released their successful self titled debut a little over a year ago now. On their own website, they describe themselves and their sound as, “born out of sorrow, powered by passion, ripened by hard work”. They performed an intimate show for the station from the depths of one of Seattle’s newer venues, Barboza during the 2012 Capitol Hill Block Party.

Billy Bragg - Greetings to the New Brunette (from Mellow Johnny’s at SXSW)

British singer songwriter Billy Bragg is a KEXP fan and has performed for the KEXP audience on multiple occasions. Most recently he graciously played during our 2013 SXSW broadcast. Here he is performing one of his best known and loved songs, “Greetings to the New Brunette”, which was originally off of his 1986 album Talking to the Taxman About Poetry.

Of Monsters And Men - Mountain Sound (from Sasquatch! 2012)

KEXP was the first to introduce you to the Icelandic group, Of Monsters And Men. Here is footage of the band performing yet again for the station, this time with the Columbia Gorge as their backdrop while backstage during the 2012 Sasquatch Music Festival.

Honorable Mentions:

Palma Violets - Best of Friends (from Mellow Johnny’s at SXSW)

You'll be able to say that you heard and saw Palma Violets here at KEXP first. Here is their performance from our broadcast from Austin this past March.

World Party - Is It Like Today (from KEXP studio)

And we come around full circle to our home here at Dexter and Denny for this final performance from the one and only World Party. Karl Wallinger's musical project World Party still sounds as fresh today as when the band began back in 1986.
