Deep Sea Diver have been kicking around in one form or another since 2007, but last year, the Jessica Dobson-led group spent a fair amount of time outside of the studio, taking the kinetic pop songs from their album History Speaks on the road while Dobson wasn't playing with another guitar-centric indie rock group. Finishing up the year with a string of Northwestern dates, Dobson and company stopped by KEXP's studios last November to perform a four-song set to cap off 2012. Carried by Dobson's wiry guitar and piano lines and Peter Mansell's insistent drumming, History Speaks's vibrant songcraft truly comes to life in a live setting, and in the middle of winter, the Seattle band's tropical-tinged tones might be just the thing to warm up to.
