Today's Song of the Day, as chosen by DJ Sharlese, host of Mechanical Breakdown and rotating host for Expansions, in honor of World Goth Day Extended, is "Tomorrow's Heroine" by NNHMN, from the 2021 EP Tomorrow's Heroine on K Dream's.
This week's Song of the Day were selected by KEXP DJ Sharlese, in honor of World Goth Day Extended. On Tuesday, August 17th, KEXP will celebrate the darker side of summer as DJ’s play goth favorites, old and new, from around the world, all day from 7 AM to 7 PM PT.
Berlin-based darkwave duo NNHMN (pronounced Non-Human) released the EP Tomorrow's Heroine earlier this year, a mini-album they describe as "five songs of hope, desire, and sheer electronic magic." Band members Lee Margot and Michal Laudarg (who's a techno DJ on the side) take a minimal approach to their sensual synth sound, drawing influence from "New Brutalists theatre, experimental electronic music, and techno culture," as they state on their website.
