Glasgow garage-rockers Catholic Action returned with their second album Celebrated by Strangers last month, their first new LP since 2017 debut In Memory Of. And while the full-length was written and recorded way before the coronavirus sent everyone into quarantine, many messages on the release will resonate during this lockdown.
"This is an album that we're immensely proud of, that we feel captures closely who we are as people, and the times we're living in (for better and worse)," the band state on their Facebook page. "I'd be hard pressed not to mention the Coronavirus in all of this. It might seem like a strange time to release a record, and these discussions were definitely had. However, we feel that now more than ever, the importance and power of music is going to be felt (and needed) the world over. These are strange, unprecedented times, but I firmly believe that if we all stay sensible, peaceful, considerate and compassionate we'll get through it largely unscathed."
Today's featured song, in particular, is a soaring anthem of hope, reminiscent of Pink Floyd's "Fearless" as covered by Spiritualized. Listen below.
