As Perfect Son, Polish singer/songwriter Tobiasz Biliński abandons the Hot Chip-esque electropop stylings of his old project Coldair, and embraces a darker, more atmospheric sound. On his debut album Cast, he channels the melodic patterns of minimalist composer Steve Reich, intermeshing the electronic beats with sweeping, emotional arrangements.
It's the first time Sub Pop has released music from a Polish artist, not only as a result of co-founder Jonathan Poneman's interest in the country, but also due to Biliński's relentlessness. “I bugged him about releasing my stuff constantly,” Biliński admits in a press release. “And I guess he admired my persistence.”
