Telling lies to your therapist it’s fine
It’s fine, it’s all part of the process
Seeing the worst in what you do best
It’s fine it’s all part of the process
Seattle's own Chastity Belt struggle with the act of self-care in this track released as part of a split single with Australian trio Loose Tooth. (And in an act of solidarity with their B-Side pals, half of all Bandcamp sales for either track will be donated to the Australian wildfire relief efforts by way of the Fire Relief Fund for First Nations Communities and the Country Fire Authority.)
"The lyrics came later and are a sort of reminder of the way self-criticism can compound," explained songwriter and lead guitarist Lydia Lund. "When I’m in that critical state of mind, I try to suspend judgement for that current state and I find it reassuring to remember that it’s temporary — a process."
Not only do Chastity Belt play a hometown show tonight at Neumos with Versing and Hugh F, but they'll be LIVE on The Midday Show on KEXP today at Noon PST. Listen to their in-studio performance worldwide, or if you live in Seattle, you can attend the session in person. Learn how here.
