Formed in Chiluca, Mexico in 2013, garage rockers El Shirota have become honorary Seattle-ites, as KEXP writer Albina Cabrera declared in her 5 Canciones Para Compartir Esta Semana column. Following a blistering performance from KEXP's first-ever broadcast from Mexico City, the band went on to play the seventh annual Freakout Fest on a stage curated by KEXP's own DJ Chilly. On their latest single “Más de Una Vez,” they let the grunge-influence sweep over their gritty guitars, even adding a little bit of a shoegaze sound. It's like Pinback meets late-era Ride.
