Maybe it's time we go
Did you really think we'd stay forever?
In the title track for his latest album Holy Moly, former Seattle troubadour Chris Staples sings what sounds like a lament for the city he loves. Staples told KEXP:
I've been in Seattle since 2005 and I love the city and I was very enamored with it before I moved here and I still am. I think it's a great place. It's the only place I wanted to live before moving here. And, you know, it's been through changes and everyone knows that. But I'm actually moving to Richmond, Virginia in a month with my girlfriend.
So maybe we'll come back but I don't know. The song is kind of generally about people's relationship to the city they live in. I feel like it's kind of a common story for people to live somewhere for a while and then sort of commiserate with other people about how things have changed.
