In early February, Americana rockers Deer Tick unveiled Mayonnaise, a collection of covers, alternate takes, outtakes, and new originals. Our Song of the Day, “Bluesboy,” is one of the originals, a sludgy growler with a wailing guitar solo. The song comes with a video of fan-shot cell phone footage.
“We collaborated with our long-time road manager and jack of many trades Tuyet Nguyen to bring you a modern rock and roll performance music video,” the band said in a statement. “Filmed in the Providence house concert location, Headquarters, we invited some friends and associates to party with us for the afternoon. A big thank you to Headquarters and everyone involved!”
Mayonnaise features covers of Ben Vaughn’s “Too Sensitive For This World” and George Harrison’s “Run of the Mill.” It follows 2017’s double-album release, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. Watch the video for “Bluesboy” below.
