London-based quintet Ezra Collective combine jazz, Afro-beat, hip-hop, and more on their debut full-length You Can’t Steal My Joy, out now via Enter The Jungle. “Everyone has an emotion or feeling that they evoke. For us, there’s an energetic joy,” drummer and bandleader Femi Koleoso told Loud & Quiet. “We’re trying to get people to dance and have the best day of their week at our shows. Some of the happiest moments of my life have been with these bredrins when we’re reasoning together.”
On today's Song of the Day, they cover the 1973 iconic track “Space Is The Place” by avant-garde jazz pioneers Sun Ra. While a longer version can be found on their 2018 EP Juan Pablo: The Philosopher, a shorter "reprise" version is on their latest LP. Check it out below.
