Local quartet Sloucher released their debut album Be True last month on Swoon Records. Self-produced by the band and mixed by John Goodmanson (Sleater-Kinney, Death Cab for Cutie, Blonde Redhead), the 10-track album finds the band “applying a compelling edge to their '90s rock influences,” according to a press release. Those ‘90s rock influences are felt on today’s Song of the Day, “Up and Down.” The soporific song is one of the hazier tracks on the energetic album and details the uncertainty that spawns in your ‘20s. “I’m 20 something, going through motions," Jay Clancy sings. “Then I write it down / turn it into sound, now it seems right / I will do my best to fill this emptiness, I wanna know myself one day.”
Be True follows 2016’s debut EP Certainty. Watch the video for “Up and Down,” edited by Dan Fromhart and Sloucher bassist Lance Umble.
