Venía esperando con ansias un segmento como éste pues el día a día de la música no va de la mano con el tiempo físico de quienes escribimos y pasamos música en la radio. El proceso es vertiginoso a la vez que intenso pues, me disculpan, pero expresar en palabras o con la voz lo que generan las canciones es un proceso complejo, difícii. Igual de exquisito y abrumador. Algunos artistas lanzan sus procesos creativos cual cataratas y asimilarlos puede tomar tiempo. ¿Por qué estoy elaborando esta excusa? Es que uno de mis artistas preferidos y, aseguro, de los mejores autores de canciones pop-folk de su generación no sólo no me dio tiempo suficiente para describir su más reciente trabajo (uno de los álbumes claves de este año), sino que ya comenzó a lanzar una de las cinco canciones que re exploran la cosmovisión de Ivory, lanzado en abril de 2022.
“Archetype” llegó como una brisa cálida de verano. Una canción de amor a lo Omar Apollo, así deberíamos comenzar a definir a esas canciones que llegan, interpretan tus sentimientos, se convierten en soundtracks definitivos y no te abandonan por todo un semestre. En medio de su salvajemente exitoso Desvelado tour que lo trajo a Seattle meses atrás con un concierto sold out que rompió mi corazón en mil pedazos al no haber podido conseguir tickets, el compositor mexicano-estadounidense expande su búsqueda plasmada en Ivory en este track que mezcla una balada inolvidable con un beat de downtempo suave como el amor recién encontrado.
Sin lugar a dudas, el autor de “Killing Me”, “Useless” y “Hey Boy” sigue caminando a paso firme asegurando que como él no hay otro. “Archetype” confirma uno del ramillete de sencillos que tiene listos para expandir y re interpretar su más reciente producción de 12 tracks que aún no me canso de escuchar.
Todo altamente recomendado como ponerse protector solar todos los días.
“El invento” es la nueva canción del sueco-argentino que forma parte de su fresco nuevo EP de cuatro canciones. Esta versión particular que elijo para compartir, se trata de un remix del track 1 homónimo de El invento EP dónde llamó a la reina de los remixes, la peruana Sofía Kourtesis. Sofía involucra inolvidables beats a cada melodía que se cruza. Con una ya larga estadía en Berlín, Kourtesis hace un blend perfecto entre la electrónica y el house más complejo de la capital alemana.
Por fuera del correcto llamado a Sofía, José Gonzalez trae una conversación con su hija de tres años hecha canción. El cantautor plasma su pequeña relación inolvidable con Laura tomando su lengua materna, el español argentino, y lo involucra por primera vez en una canción. Será por eso que este track llamó la atención de mi corazón o (confieso) serán las memorias de lo fuerte y extremadamente complejo que puede ser el amor entre un padre y una hija.

Adrián Quesada es una parte fundamental de la escena musical de Texas. Ha formado bandas claves como Grupo Fantasma y es el cofundador de The Black Pumas. Aunque su vasta carrera musical lo ha llevado a girar internacionalmente y a tener grupos de popularidad, ha sido en 2022 cuando con su compilado Boleros Psicodélicos es que ha creado una pieza única.
Quesada se enamoró del movimiento musical psicodélico de los 60´s y 70´s escuchando la radio hace más de veinte años. Durante la pandemia, este amor por el bolero logró encontrar su tiempo y espacio. Así nació este álbum que compila versiones claves, canciones fundamentales y voces de varios artistas de América Latina que prestan su voz y su inconfundible presencia. Algunos de ellos son iLe, Gabriel Garzon Montano, Girl Ultra, Natalia Clavier, Angelica Garcia, Gaby Moreno, entre otros.
Elijo “Puedes Decir De mí” que trae a una de las cantautoras del momento, la guatemalteca Gaby Moreno. Empiecen por ahí y no paren hasta beber los 12 tracks de uno de los álbumes más disfrutables lanzados en 2022.

I’d been anxiously awaiting a segment like this one because everyday life in the music world doesn’t match up with the way those of us who write about and play music on the radio experience time. The process is dizzying and intense because, pardon me, but using words or your voice to express how a song makes you feel is a difficult, complex process, Though it can be equally delightful and surprising. Some artists launch their creative processes in one fell swoop and it can take a bit of time to digest them. But why am I coming up with excuses? The thing is, not only did one of my favorite artists and, I promise you, one of the best pop folk songwriters of his generation not give me enough time to describe his most recent work (one of this year’s key albums), but he’s already launched one of the five songs that will reexplore the worldview encapsulated in Ivory, which came out in April 2022.
“Archetype” dropped like a cool breeze on a summer’s day. It’s a classic Omar Apollo love song, which is definitely a way we should start defining songs that show up, interpret your feelings, turn into constant soundtracks, and stay by your side for at least half a year. In the middle of his insanely successful Desvelado tour, which brought him to Seattle several months ago for a sold-out concert that broke my heart into a million pieces when I was unable to get tickets, the Mexican-American composer is expanding the search he began with Ivory on this track which mixes an unforgettable ballad with a downtempo beat that’s as smooth as new love.
Without a doubt, the author of “Killing Me,” “Useless,” and “Hey Boy” has continued on a steady path, ensuring there’s no one else like him. “Archetype” confirms one of the bouquet of singles he’s prepared in order to expand on and reinterpret his most recent 12-track production, which I’m still not ready to stop listening to.
I’d recommend it highly for your day-to-day, just like using sunscreen!
“El invento” is the new song by the Swedish-Argentine who has launched a fresh, new four-song EP. This particular version that I’ve chosen to share in this segment is a remix of the number one title track on the El invento EP, where he called upon the queen of remixes, Peruvian Sofia Kourtesis. Sofia adds unforgettable electronic beats to any melody she comes across. Having been in Berlin for some time now, Kourtesis achieves a perfect blend between electronic music and the most complex house that exists in the German capital.
Aside from making the right call to collaborate with Sofia, José González has incorporated a conversation with his three-year-old daughter, turning it into a song. The singer-songwriter
expresses his unforgettable relationship with Laura in his mother tongue, Argentinean Spanish, integrating it into a song for the first time. Maybe that’s why this track stood out to me, or maybe it’s the memories of how strong and extremely complex father-daughter love can be.
