As we’re all hearing (and it bears repeating), now is an important time for folks to stay home if they are able to so we can curb the spread of COVID-19. But staying home doesn’t mean we can’t still be connected – and there’s no connector quite like music.

While we all might not be able to go to the record store and chat up our favorite clerk, go to shows, or rank Radiohead albums with our friends at our favorite local spot, meaningful connection through music can still happen online. Just like how KEXP DJs have the joy of sharing their favorite songs and albums daily, we want to extend the experience to our listeners with a #playingatmyhouse.

Each week KEXP will announce a music-related theme to our audience. We’ll then ask you to share your favorite examples of each theme by sharing songs on social media with #playingatmyhouse – riffing off of LCD Soundsystem’s classic “Daft Punk Is Playing at My House.” But it’s more than just sharing songs. Our hope is people will take it as an opportunity to interact with each other by sharing opinions, recommendations based on other people’s picks, memories attached to the songs, etc.

For our first week, we’re kicking things off asking to hear your favorite Mood Lifters. As you might infer, we’re looking for any song that lifts your spirits. Mood Lifters can come to us in a variety of ways. Maybe it’s an upbeat jam with a sensational groove that instantly has you moving. Or maybe there’s a song that whenever you hear it you’re reminded of someone or it brings back a particular joyous memory or feeling.

So, what are your favorite mood lifters? We have a few to get you started below and don’t forget to share your picks.
