Midnight In A Perfect World: Brandt Brauer Frick

The collaborative project of longtime friends Daniel Brandt, Jan Brauer, and Paul Frick, Brandt Brauer Frick officially came together in Berlin back in 2009 with a musical identity inspired by both the city’s classical history and its sweaty dancefloors. Their inventive 2010 debut album You Make Me Real put this unique sound on full display with the trio’s immaculate productions nodding to minimal masters Steve Reich and Philip Glass as well as the minimal techno of Ricardo Villalobos and the Perlon label. Now a decade into their career, Brandt Brauer Frick continue to twist their sound in thrilling new directions on their 5th full-length album Echo which came out on June 7th. Their exclusive guest DJ mix for Midnight in a Perfect World puts their sophisticated fusion of influences on full display as they weave experimental neo-classical pieces and cinematic electronic productions together, while also sneaking in a few tracks off their brand new album.

Midnight in a Perfect World, KEXP’s weekly hour-long guest DJ show, airs Fridays at midnight. This multi-genre program features eclectic sets by a rotating cast of international and local DJ’s, each building upon a party vibe to kick off your weekend.
