Foxygen have announced a new album due for release on April 26. Titled Seeing Other People, the record follows 2017’s Hang and will be released via Jagjaguwar. They’ve also shared the lead single “Livin’ a Lie” via a Alessandra Lichtenfeld-directed video. The 9-track record delves into growing up and moving away from the partying that accompanied the indie psych duo’s lives.

“I remember a quote from [Jonathan] Rado sticking with the press a few years ago about how we’d lived every rock’n’roll cliche in, about, one year,” vocalist Sam France said in a statement. “Well, here’s the album about it. Another movie. I don’t know what’s next. But here’s a snapshot of it all.”

He continues on to bid farewell to all the bad habits of those years. “Goodbye to the drugs, to the partying. Goodbye to my twenties now, Goodbye to my Saint Laurent-model-body. Goodbye, hopefully, to the anxiety attacks. Goodbye to beating myself up because I didn’t fit into those leather pants anymore. Fuck it. Goodbye to the facilities. And goodbye the leeches in my life.” Unfortunately, there’s one thing they’re cutting out that fans may be upset about: “Goodbye to the touring circus — that’s right, no more shows or tours for a while.”

Seeing Other People was produced by Foxygen, engineered and mixed by Shawn Everett, and features legendary drummer Jim Keltner. The video for “Livin’ a Lie” was filmed in the wake of the Woolsey fires in Calabasas and the band’s hometown, Westlake Village.
