Desde Ecuador y hacia el mundo, “Semillita” aparece como creación colectiva de un grupo de músicas, músicos y artistas ecuatorianos entre los que encontramos a: Alex Alvear, Ana Cachimuel, Grecia Albán, Nicola Cruz, Huaira, Juana Monk, Steven Dagenais, Camila Terán, Mateo Kingman y más. Además las voces poderosas de Li Saumet, Rubén Albarrán, Tulipa Ruiz y Lido Pimienta se sumaron a la cruzada.
El pueblo indígena de Ecuador estuvo once días de paro sufriendo una fuerte represión que dejó muertos, heridos y desaparecidos. “Semillita” nace como un himno de unidad entre lxs artistas de la región hacia los pueblos del Ecuador, Chile, Honduras, Haití, Brasil, Colombia, México y Bolivia.
Una de las bandas más premiadas de la nueva escena de Brasil lanzó el videoclip de “Vulcão”, canción que le da nombre a su más reciente álbum. Con 4 discos de estudio, dos en vivo y numerosos sencillos, los nacidos en la ciudad de Sergipe cumplen 15 años con la música este 2019. The Baggios encarna un perfecto puente entre el rock psicodélico de los setenta, riff bluseros y la mejor música tradicional brasilera. La pieza audiovisual estuvo dirigida por Julio Andrade, guitarrista y compositor de la banda.
Nacieron en Colombia con una clara intención: revivir el sonido garage que identificó a ese país en la década del sesenta. El resultado fue una reinterpretación del legado de bandas como Los Yetis y Los Flippers. “Animal Viscoso” es una de las canciones que forma parte la segunda entrega de su trilogía de EPs titulada "Los Kitsch de Colombia Presentan". Durante noviembre y diciembre The Kitsch realizará su cuarta gira internacional por Estados Unidos y México comenzando en nuestra ciudad de Seattle en el marco del festival Freakout. Además tendrán su sesión en vivo en KEXP abierta al público el próximo 14 de noviembre.
La música popular de Chile no sería la misma sin el paso de Violeta Parra. Es considerada una de las artistas más importantes del folclore de América del Sur. Fue versionada por artistas de más de 20 países incluyendo figuras como U2, Faith No More, Chico Buarque, Mercedes Sosa, Natalia Lafourcade, Daniel Drexler y más. La actual crisis política y social de Chile ha impulsado a los artistas de las nuevas generaciones a revisar las obras de sus iconos del folclore popular. Esto ha generado nuevos himnos contemporáneos como “Cacerolazo” de Anita Tijoux y el nuevo sencillo de la artista Francisca Valenzuela llamado “Al final del mundo”, que cuenta con la participación del destacado pianista Claudio Parra (no debe confundirse con la familia de Violeta) de Los Jaivas. Se presentó por primera vez en vivo en los Juegos Panamericanos de Lima de 2019 y habla de Chile, su cultura, sus dolores y sus luchas.
Bostich + Fussible fueron los creadores de un nuevo sonido. La reinversión de la música norteña mexicana y su fusión con beats electrizantes género hace dos décadas el ya conocido "The Nortec sound". Esto abrió una puerta sonora que les permitió ganar múltiples Latin Grammy, ser nominados a numerosos premios y transformarse en embajadores de México alrededor del mundo. Nortec Collective celebró sus 20 años participando de un DJ Guest mix en El Sonido hace una semana con sus selecciones musicales preferidas. El pasado 18 de octubre presentaron un nuevo álbum de grandes éxitos de la mano de Nacional Records.

The indigenous people of Ecuador recently faced eleven days of uprisings and suffered a strong repression that left dead, wounded and disappeared. “Semillita” was created as a hymn of unity among the artists of the region towards the peoples of Ecuador, Chile, Honduras, Haiti, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and Bolivia.
One of the most awarded bands of the new Brazilian scene just released the "Vulcão" music video, which gives their latest album its name. During November and December, The Kitsch will make their fourth international tour of the United States and Mexico starting in our city of Seattle as part of the Freakout Festival. On November 14th they will also have an exclusive live session at KEXP which is open to the public.

The current political and social crisis in Chile has inspired artists from the newer generations to rediscover the works of their folklore icons. This has generated new contemporary hymns such as "Cacerolazo" by Anita Tijoux and the new single by the artist Francisca Valenzuela called “Al Final del Mundo” ("At the end of the world"), which features a collaboration with the prominent pianist Claudio Parra (no relation to Violeta) from Los Jaivas. The track was performed live for the first time at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru and talks about Chile, its culture, its pains and its struggles.
Bostich + Fussible and Nortec Collective are the creators of a new sound. Their reworking of norteña music in fusion with electronica two decades ago created the well-known "Nortec Sound". This new sound opened a door that allowed them to win multiple Latin Grammys, to be nominated for numerous awards and to become Mexican ambassadors around the world. A week ago Nortec Collective celebrated their 20 years together with a guest DJ mix for El Sonido with some of their favorite musical selections and remixes. On October 18th they dropped the greatest hits collection on National Records.
