Last year, Polyvinyl Records introduced a unique series based around the concept of recording artists on a Tascam 4-track recorder. For the 4-Track Singles Series, 12 artists recorded a pair of songs using the same Tascam recorder and then passed it on to the next artist on the list via mail. Previously, these recordings were only available on vinyl but, today, the two songs contributed by Japanese Breakfast (aka Michelle Zauner) have become available online.

Because of the recording methodology, “2042” and “Posing In Bondage,” Zauner’s contributions, are incredibly lo-fi with a ‘90s feel to them. The duo of singles follows 2017’s acclaimed Soft Sounds From Another Planet. Below, listen to “2042” and “Posing In Bondage” plus watch Japanese Breakfast’s KEXP in-studio performance from earlier this year.
