Kurt Vile has announced his seventh solo record and first in 3 years titled Bottle It In. The album includes last month’s “Loading Zones” as well as the new 10-minute single, shared today, “Bassackwards.”

Bottle It In follows 2015's b'lieve i'm goin down..., and last year’s collaborative album with Courtney Barnett, Lotta Sea Lice. The album features Cass McCombs, Kim Gordon, Warpaint's Stella Mozgawa, Mary Lattimore, Farmer Dave Scher, and Lucius.

"For a while I was terrified of flying, so I would be listening to whatever country songs I was obsessed with,” says Vile on the influences behind the record. “I'd have George Jones blasting in my ears. Or, I would be reading something about country music. Or, I would start writing songs in that flash of being afraid, being swallowed by life. I'm up there on a plane drinking wine because like everybody else I'm afraid to die. And I wrote 'Hysteria' up there. It's like that moment on the airplane, when you're on your way somewhere and you have that burst of panic. When you're terrified of dying, that's when you want people to know you love them."

Bottle It In is out October 12 via Matador Records. Vile also announced a new slew of tour dates behind the album, with a date in Seattle on Saturday, Dec. 15 at the Moore Theatre. Listen to “Bassackwards” and watch Vile’s KEXP in-studio performance from 2015 below.
