It’s hard to call This Mortal Coil a “band,” in the traditional sense. The project helmed by Ivo Watts-Russell and John Fryer was conceived as a recording project and over time amassed guest performances from soon-to-be legendary musicians from acts like Cocteau Twins, Pixies, Modern English, Dead Can Dance, The Breeders, and more. Now the three classic This Mortal Coil records are getting the full deluxe edition treatment from their label 4AD.
It’ll End In Tears, Filigree & Shadow, and Blood were all reportedly remastered by mastering engineer John Dent prior to his death in late 2017. Each record comes encased in brand new artwork from Watts-Russell and Fryer themselves. The CD versions are manufactured as UHQCDs (Ultimate High Quality Compact Disc) for all you audiophiles out there. The deluxe reissues are out Oct. 26. Watch a trailer for the release below.
