The Decemberists released their synth-infused eighth studio album, I’ll Be Your Girl, back in March. Not content to wait around to release new music, the Portland band is quickly following that up with a new EP called Traveling On due out in a matter of weeks. Today, the five-piece has shared the EP’s title track which sees them returning to their folk-rock roots, complete with accordion and baroque lyrics.

The Traveling On EP will span five songs in 21 minutes and is out Dec. 14 via Capitol Records. Below, listen to “Traveling On” and read KEXP’s interview with frontman Colin Meloy from March, in which he expands upon how the band has grown and changed over the years.
