Neko Case released her seventh solo studio album and first in five years, Hell-On, over the summer. Today, she’s shared a stop-motion animated video by Laura Plansker that follows one lion’s adventures.

"I'm very honored and excited to debut this video for 'Last Lion of Albion' by one of my very favorite artists, Laura Plansker,” says Case in a press release. "I've loved her work forever; she's so skilled at using handmade figures and props to create surreal worlds. Her work perfectly balances humor and darkness in a way that breaks my heart. She has a way of making something so artificial so very alive. The turning of the lion's head to look at the sky, or its own reflection makes me cry my eyes out. There is so much straight ahead compassion in Laura's work, there's no need to manipulate emotion of the viewer, it is the perfect balance. I'm so happy to share it here with you!"

The video follows her strange, NSFW clip with Mark Lanegan for “Curse of the I-5 Corridor.” Case will be in Seattle on Thursday, November 29 to play the Paramount Theatre. Below, watch the video for “Last Lion of Albion” and Case's KEXP in-studio performance from May.

Sasquatch 2014, Day 2: Neko Case

"I'm Neko Case, and I'm from Tacoma, Washington," an atypically curt Neko Case remarked halfway through her Saturday evening set at Sasquatch. "And now I've gotten the pandering out of the way."
