  • Los Angeles indie band Local Natives are celebrating the 5-year anniversary of the release of their sophomore album Hummingbird today. They've done a few different things in its honor including launching a Tumblr dedicated to the album and sharing a series of video behind the making of the album. The band has also unveiled a sprawling, 8-minute demo of album track "Colombia." Local Natives' last release was 2016's Sunlit Youth. [ Under the Radar ]

  • Local band and KEXP favorites The Moondoggies have unveiled a new single today called "Easy Coming." The sweeping, nostalgic, over 6-minute track will appear on the band's forthcoming album A Love Sleeps Deep. The album will be released on the band's longtime label Hardly Art on April 13 and follows up 2013's Adios I'm a Ghost. Check out their KEXP in-studio performance from 2013 below. [ Paste ]

  • New Jersey rootsy emo band Pinegrove have shared their first update since frontman Evan Stephens Hall posted a statement on Facebook admitting to abusing his status as a musician in sexual situations after allegations of "sexual coercion" had come out against him by an unnamed woman. After his lengthy statement, the band canceled their upcoming tour and took a hiatus. Today, the band has made clear that the hiatus will continue and any planned concerts will be canceled. Before the allegations had come out, the band had just released the new single "Intrepid," with plans to release an album that may no longer come to fruition. Back in 2016, Cardinal highlight "Aphasia" was our Song of the Day. [ SPIN ]

  • Nashville singer/songwriter Sophie Allison has shared a new Soccer Mommy track, "Cool," from her forthcoming debut album. The song is an interesting and long-overdue spin on the "cool girl" trope, as Allison looks up to a girl who easily and unemotionally breaks boys hearts rather than trying to impress them. The song follows lead single "Your Dog." Clean is out March 2 on Fat Possum. Catch Soccer Mommy at Barboza on Wednesday, April 4 with Madeline Kenney. [ Stereogum ]
