Father John Misty continues to roll out new music from his forthcoming full-length Pure Comedy, out April 7th via Sub Pop/Bella Union. (Check out the title track on the KEXP Blog here.) Today, he shares a video for the single "Two Wildly Different Perspective" -- again directed by Matthew Daniel Siskin, who shared a collage-style clip for "Pure Comedy" as well. In sharing the video, FJM adds the note, "More kids are going to die now thanks to the unbelievably selfish immigration policy of places like Saudi Arabia and the USA." [ Pitchfork ]

Monsters of Folk, meet your match. Introducing BNQT, the latest mild-rock-supergroup featuring members of Midlake, with vocalists Ben Bridwell (of Band of Horses), Alex Kapranos (of Franz Ferdinand), Jason Lytle (of Grandaddy), and Fran Healy (of Travis). Check out their first single "Restart" below, from their debut Volume 1, out April 28th via Dualtone/Entertainment One/Bella Union. The LP features 10 songs, with each of the vocalists writing and singing two songs each. In a press release, Midlake frontman Eric Pulido jokingly calls it "a poor man's version of The Traveling Wilburys!," adding "That's what art is about for me, creating with other people that you love and appreciate." You probably know director Rian Johnson for his work on The Mountain Goats video "Woke Up New" or their concert DVD The Life of the World to Come, but what you may not know is, he's also the director of the blockbuster Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Via a series of tweets, John Darnielle explains an off-hand joke about a song titled "The Ultimate Jedi Who Wastes All the Other Jedi and Eats Their Bones" had to become a reality, tweeting "Who am I to turn down the guy who directed [acclaimed Breaking Bad episode] 'Ozymandias'"? Listen below to Darnielle's merry acoustic ballad, which Johnson points out via his own Twitter is now canon. Here's hoping he treats us to a live rendition when Darnielle stops by Town Hall on Monday, February 20th in support of his latest novel, Universal Harvester. [ Consequence of Sound ]

(Speakers at the event included Solange, Questlove, Kimbra, former Prince collaborator Sheila E., and jazz bandleader and Blackstar saxophonist Donny McCaslin.)
