  • They've been teasing us with the news for a while now, but today, we finally have new music from Bon Iver to share! Two new songs, in fact. Check out the creatively-spelled tracks "22 (OVER S∞∞N)" and "10 d E A T h b R E a s T ⚄ ⚄" below. (Your move, M.I.A.!) Both will appear on their forthcoming full-length 22, A Million, out September 30th via Jagjaguwar. It'll be his first new album since his self-titled 2011 LP. Via a press release, its described as "part love letter, part final resting place of two decades of searching for self-understanding like a religion. And the inner-resolution of maybe never finding that understanding. The album's 10 poly-fi recordings are a collection of sacred moments, love's torment and salvation, contexts of intense memories, signs that you can pin meaning onto or disregard as coincidence. If Bon Iver built a habitat rooted in physical spaces, then 22, A Million is the letting go of that attachment to a place." [Under the Radar]

  • We've got news on another long-awaited album -- the new one from The Shins, following 2012's Port of Morrow. Frontman James Mercer told Portland radio station KBOO that it should be out by early next year, adding, "I’m really excited about this record… I think we’ve got something that Shins fans will really love, and I think there’s some other things on there that are different enough. I made a concerted effort on certain songs to fit the palette, to use the palette that I’ve used historically for the band. I think it’s really strong. I think lyrically, I’m better than I ever was. And I think my songwriting is stronger than it ever was." Hear it from Mercer himself below around the 21:19 mark. [Spin]

  • Another exciting return today comes from Ted Leo. Sure, there was The Both, his project with Aimee Mann, but it's good to hear him on his own again. Stream the untitled track below, which will appear on a split 7" with fuzzed-out rockers Publicist UK. So, Ted, when you getting back together with the Pharmacists? [Stereogum]

  • Leave it to St. Vincent (real name: Annie Clark) to introduce an obscure Greenwich Village folk singer to the Disney crowd. Check out her cover of the haunting early '70s track "Something on Your Mind" below, which will appear on the soundtrack to the Pete’s Dragon remake, out now. Hear both versions below. It's a compilation both parents and kids can enjoy: Bonnie “Prince” Billy contributes two tracks, and Okkervil River, Leonard Cohen, appear as well. [Pitchfork]
