The Cure celebrate their fortieth anniversary this year. Let that soak in for a second. Then consider that the English quintet are playing three-plus hour sets with multiple encores night after night. Needless to say, Robert Smith and the current Cure lineup are doing right their legacy night after night, covering a significant portion of their catalog with striking precision. When they returned to the Gorge for their second Sasquatch! Music Festival headlining slot on Sunday night, they didn't have a new record to promote like they did in 2008, so they focused on digging deep into their extensive catalog. Without significant lighting or staging production, the band's performance was always going to live and die by the setlist, and while it's possible that someone could complain about the band "only" playing one-and-a-half hours and one encore, any Cure set with six Disintegration songs – including the first three tracks in order to open the show, briefly setting up hopes for a full album performance – a new track ("It Can Never Be The Same"), and plenty of other goth classics is clearly a winner.
