The fact that Theoretics remixed the Blade Runner theme a few months back automatically backs up drummer Adam Gross' statement, "We're all sort of sci-fi nerds." A five-piece livetronica band from our very own city, Theoretics certainly deliver sound-wise, taking us on a funky space-age aural exploration during their energizing in-studio. Taking cues from multiple genres to create an incredible, unique sound, Theoretics add a sense of authenticity and warmth that electronica so often lacks. It's hard to believe that the group got together only last year at University of Washington, where, according to Gross, they've skyrocketed from their early stages of being "just a funky jazz band for a while." Now, they're performing big events like the Capitol Hill Block Party (Friday on Neumos Stage) and debuting new songs, like "Passionate Paradise", on City Arts. Catch them now before they blast out of our atmosphere by watching this stellar performance, recorded last week live in the KEXP studio:
