You'll be happy to have the blues this weekend! KEXP is proud to team up with The Royal Room, The Columbia City Theater, and American Standard Time to present the 2nd Annual Columbia City Blues Festival in Seattle this Friday, August 15th through Sunday, August 17th. Together, we're bringing together some of Seattle’s finest bands with strong roots in Blues and R&B.

This year, the event pays tribute to some greats of the genre. Throughout the festival, musicians will focus on the legacy of the great Muddy Waters, as well as Junior Wells, Mississippi John Hurt, Hank Williams, Loretta Lynn, Jimmie Rogers, and more. On Sunday evening, a collection of Seattle guitarists will present “The Blues According to Jimi Hendrix.” And, earlier in the day on Sunday, The Royal Room will host a family-friendly show, because it's never too early to introduce your young'uns to the blues. Tickets are available online (here and here), and will be sold at the doors. And several of the events are hosted with no cover, but a suggested donation.
