Mutual Benefit's Jordan Lee has lived in various locations throughout the United States from Austin, Texas to Boston, Massachusetts. While traveling around America, Lee discovered and performed with many other musicians, eventually convincing them to join his music project. In fact, save for Lee, the band has no established line-up, allowing for more artistic freedom. Nevertheless, Lee is modest about his successes and the band's inception, stating that the story of Mutual Benefit has "definitely been romanticized a little bit" and credits those who have helped him along the way. For his recent session live in the KEXP studio, Jordan Lee brought the six-member version of Mutual Benefit to show off songs from the new LP, Love's Crushing Diamond. Dive into their splendor, as the band vacillates between Baroque pop and indie folk, here:
