  • Animal Collective added their voices to Shabazz Places' "#CAKE." They're calling this intensely chaotic remix the "Animal Collective Premature Deflirt Mix." Special shout-out to I Want You magazine's Christian Peterson for some exotic and trippy artwork. Shabazz Places perform this Saturday at The Showbox for SMooCH: Seattle Musicians for Children’s Hospital. [Pitchfork]

  • While performing in Pennsylvania earlier this week, Strand of Oaks debuted a cover of The Replacements' "Alex Chilton." Apparently it was the first time they've played the track live, but they definitely pulled it off. Strand of Oaks will be headlining the KEXP Yule Benefit on Saturday, December 20th at Neumos.   • Sub Pop recording artists Dum Dum Girls have shared a a special holiday track called "On Christmas." The song is featured on Converse Rubber Tracks' holiday compilation, Noise to the World (available now). [CoS]

  • 2014 has been a big year for The Libertines. This summer they performed their fist live show in 4 years and now the English indie rockers have announced their hope to release a new album next year, their latest LP dropped in 2004. Today they shared a press release stating that they've been signed to Virgin EMI records. Band member Carl Barât said, "After everything we have been through The Albion sails on course again, I couldn't be more excited." [Pitchfork]
