  • Pixies have shared a new video for the atmospheric track "Magdalena" off their latest EP-2 (read an in-depth review of the EP on the KEXP Blog here).   • Last night, Arctic Monkeys brought their stellar release AM to the Late Show With David Letterman, performing the stand-out track "Do I Wanna Know?" for the television airwaves. Watch below.   • A few weeks ago, we reported that Chvrches were slated to cover the classic Bauhaus track “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” for the soundtrack to the film Vampire Academy. We can now share a stream of the track -- check it out below. The soundtrack comes out February 11th through Universal Music; the film hits theaters on Valentine’s Day. [Pitchfork]

  • Bassist Abbey Blackwell of local sweethearts La Luz has announced she'll be stepping down from her post after the current tour. She shared on the band's Facebook, "After a year and a half of being in this incredible band, spending time with these talented women, and experiencing the best and the worst of tour, I've decided that the touring life just isn't for me, and my heart lies in the back of an orchestra and working on my own music. I will be playing my last show in Seattle with La Luz on February 4th at Neumos with Pure Bathing Culture and Night Cadet. I hope that you will come out and make that show the best one ever!   • Broken Bells (aka Danger Mouse and James Mercer of The Shins) are releasing their sophomore effort, After the Disco, on February 4th via Columbia Records, but you can listen to it now, via a stream on iTunes. [Consequence of Sound]
