If drama is the key to art, then look no further than Austin band The Black Angels. The group is a collection of eerie organs, guitar riffs and vocals that, when combined, sound like a mash-up of Tame Impala, Jefferson Airplane, The Doors and DJ Shadow. Their recent live set at The Triple Door was highlighted with red and blue ambient light, complimenting their psychedelic set. “You’ll find you’re mine all the time,” sings vocalist Alex Maas. “My favorite wine, I’ll drink you all the time.” The band got their name from a Velvet Underground song and their compositions pay homage to that moody New York sound. The band has upcoming California tour dates scheduled in August, followed by dates in Europe. Watch The Black Angels' set, live at The Triple Door, as part of KEXP's VIP Club Concert series:
