This podcast features exclusive KEXP in-studio performances, unreleased songs, and recordings from independent artists that our DJs think you should hear. Today’s song, featured on the Midday Show with Cheryl Waters, is “Seven Crimes” by Capsula from the 2013 album Solar Secrets on Krian Music Group.

Capsula - Seven Crimes (MP3)

Chances are, this isn't the first time you've heard Capsula - especially if you're a regular listener of KEXP, a subscriber to our podcasts or a just a viewer of our videos. We were lucky enough to catch the volatile wind of this Spanish based Argentina trio in early 2009, upon the release of Rising Mountains, their fourth album overall but first to break outside of either their native or adoptive homelands, and feature them over the years to follow, in Austin and Seattle, in-studio and at the Mural. You can watch, hear and see how much they've grown through a quick search of the KEXP blog for all of the songs, videos and photos from these moments.

Built upon the foundation of glam, garage, psychedelic and classic rock that made the aptly named Rising Mountains an epic force to be reckoned with and impossible to ignore, this year's release of Solar Secrets finds Capsula at the top of their game while also realizing a lifetime dream: to record with Tony Visconti. The veteran producer, famous for shaping pivotal albums by David Bowie, T.Rex, Iggy Pop and many others, not only brought his decades of expertise to recording the new album but even his own 1968 Fender bass, with which he backed Bowie on The Man Who Sold The World. As a result, Solar Secrets is tighter, fierier and punchier than ever. But as ever, at the album's heart remain the same three fans-as-much-as-performers – guitarist/vocalist Martin Guevara, bassist/vocalist Coni Duchess, and drummer Natxo "Nacho" Solimo – who first bonded over their love for Ziggy Stardust and Transformer, and who are now soaring the stratosphere on their own.

If you're eager to check out one of Capsula's incendiary live shows, you're in luck! They're currently blazing their way toward the West Coast on a U.S. tour that will bring them to our city in a couple of weeks, when they play El Corazon on December 18. Get tickets here. You'll find other dates and more music from Capsula on their website and Facebook page. For now, check out their performance of "Dark Age", another rocker from Solar Secrets, recorded live in KEXP's studio earlier this year:
