  • Twenty three years ago yesterday, Pearl Jam performed their very first show under the name Mookie Blaylock at the late Seattle club Off Ramp. This week, they are celebrating their anniversary, as well as their latest and tenth studio release, Lightning Bolt, with an appearance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, who is also featuring other artists playing the band's hits. The series kicked off on Monday with fellow grunge legend Chris Cornell joining The Avett Brothers on a rendition of "Footsteps". • Don't be shocked at this news just in: Tyler, The Creator bites the hand that feeds. Recently, the sometimes controversial artist railed against the upcoming YouTube Music Awards, for which he is performing... for some fee, we would guess. • In other not so shocking and hand-biting news, Guided by Voices have booted drummer Kevin Fennell, who is currently trying to sell the drumkit he used to record many of the band's seminal albums (Bee Thousand, Alien Lanes, Under the Bushes Under the Stars, Mag Earwig, etc.) for an ambitious $55k. Frontman Robert Pollard's management publicly stated: "For the record, the band Guided By Voices has nothing to do with the sale of Kevin Fennell's drums. He is acting on his own and is no longer in the band." [Pitchfork]

  • Among the the exclusives announced yesterday that you can pick up on Record Store Day's Back to Black Friday (November 29th) is Peace Sword, a 6-song EP by The Flaming Lips featuring songs based on the film adaptation of Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game. You can now listen to two songs from it, one at Stereogum and one at Pitchfork.
