Live Video: No Age

While the angular, avant-garde sound of L.A. group No Age hardly conjures up ideas of "flower power," DJ Cheryl Waters couldn't help but notice that she's only ever seen guitarist Randy Randall in tie-dyed shirts. Apparently, Randall's had a long history with this particular shirt, just as KEXP has with this Sub Pop duo, going back to a 2008 performance in our very parking lot. Over the years, their music has grown, getting even more experimental as on their recent and fourth full-length album, An Object, yet the two-man onslaught of Randall and vocalist/percussionist (and now bassist!) Dean Spunt remains as it always has, absolutely riveting. Like Randall's shirt, which has become a talisman for him after he had lost it and then found it two years later all the way in Europe ("It's a reminder that you always come back to where you started," he said), we hope he and No Age make their way back to KEXP soon.
