  • Earlier this year, it was reported that Sharon Jones was diagnosed with stage-one bile duct cancer, but thankfully, she is said to be "doing much better," and she and her Dap-Kings have announced a January 14th release date for their next album on Daptone Records. To celebrate, they've shared a new animated video for the single "Retreat!" which you can watch below. [Pitchfork]

  • Not only do David Bowie and James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem collaborate on the upcoming Arcade Fire album, Reflektor (out 10/29 on Merge Records), but Murphy recently took a crack at the Bowie track “Love Is Lost” from his most-recent album The Next Day. [Stereogum]

  • Speaking of collaborations, this past Saturday, Justin Vernon (aka Bon Iver) joined The National on stage in Austin, TX. Together, they performed "Terrible Love" and "Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks" from the High Violet release. [Brooklyn Vegan]

  • Last night in Mexico City, Thom Yorke and his Atoms for Peace project kicked out a spot-on rendition of Marvin Gaye’s classic “Got To Give It Up.” The fan-shot footage below is a little wobbly, but you can still make out some serious shoulder-action from Yorke. [Consequence of Sound]

  • Yesterday, Yoko Ono was declared an honorary citizen of Reykjavík, Iceland. On what would've been John Lennon's 73rd birthday, the City Council of Reykjavík presented the honor to Ono, with Mayor Jón Gnarr stating, "With her outstanding work, Yoko Ono has pointed the light of peace to Reykjavík." KEXP returns to Reykjavík from October 30th through November 1st for our annual broadcast from Iceland Airwaves Music Festival, and we'll inquire about getting a citizenship for DJ Kevin Cole, too.
