The Moondoggies - One More Chance (MP3)

Folk rock has received a breath of fresh air from Washington-grown "folk with dirt on it" quartet The Moondoggies. The plaid clad, low key band just released their third album, Adios I'm a Ghost, through local label Hardly Art. Like Soundgarden, The Lumineers, Eric Clapton and others, The Moondoggies opted to record their album at the family-owned Bear Creek Studio in Woodinville, WA. The secluded, barn style studio seems fitting for the thoughtful vibe of the album. Instead of rehashing the early 70's sounds of Bob Dylan, George Harrison or The Turtles, The Moondoggies incorporate diverse influences like Nirvana, JJ Cale, Blonde Redhead and Pink Floyd, crafting a unique yet familiar sound. Artfully combining sincerity and triviality, The Moondoggies' "One More Chance" skirts the line of sounding like a lost Bandfinger track or the theme song of a campy 70's sitcom. The Moondoggies' writing distills catchy hooks and lighthearted riffs into an intentional, original track. Don your best tartan flannel and get "One More Chance" stuck in your head.

The Moondoggies will be playing tonight, August 16th, and tomorrow, the 17th, at Tractor Tavern to celebrate their album release! You can also catch them at Slack Fest on the 24th or in Eugene, OR, on the 25th. Take a look at their website and Facebook for more Northwest concert dates and news.
