Thee Oh Sees - I Come From The Mountain (MP3)

Led by singer/guitarist John Dwyer, Thee Oh Sees' frenetic take on lo-fi, psych, and garage rock is only amplified by the band's tireless touring and recording schedule. Dwyer began making solo recordings under the moniker "Orinoka Crash Suite" while also playing in Pink and Brown. After Dwyer's other projects fizzled out, he adopted OCS as his main method of output, eventually recruiting Patrick Mullins, Brigid Dawson, and Petey Dammit to transform the project from a solo project to a full band. Now under operating the name "Thee Oh Sees", Dwyer, Dawson, Dammit, multi-instrumentalist Lars Finberg, and drummer Mike Shoun have toured and recorded consistently, averaging at least one album a year before heading out on the road to support it. Part-fuzz, part-adrenaline, all garage-rock fury, "I Come From The Mountain" sounds like a swirling, rapid-fire rocker that emerged suddenly from Dwyer's Bay Area dungeon. John Dwyer's snarling, spitting vocals are tempered by his bandmates' syrupy harmonies, but the whole group charges at a breakneck pace for all four-and-a-half minutes of the song. At last year's Capitol Hill Block Party, Thee Oh Sees drew the first crowdsurfer of the weekend, and whenever they return to Seattle, "I Come From The Mountain" will likely be the soundtrack to at least three more brave concertgoers' journey from the pit to the stage.

Thee Oh Sees will spend the summer in Europe, but they'll be back in the United States later this year, so keep an eye on their website and Facebook for any future tour dates behind Floating Coffin. Watch the band play "Enemy Destruct" live for KEXP at MusicfestNW 2010 below.
