When Chicago post-rock band Disappears went on hiatus in 2016, guitarist Brian Case and drummer Noah Leger (along with bassist Damon Carruesco) went on to form the group FACS. Now joined by bassist Alianna Kalaba (formerly of the band We Ragazzi), the band are poised to release their third LP Void Moments on March 27th via Trouble in Mind Records.
On the new album, the band continue to evolve and experiment with their sound while still retaining the foreboding beauty of previous releases. Today's featured track combines Case's haunted vocals chanting over a tense, hypnotic groove that sometimes melts into a dreamy wash of distortion before falling right back into the moody bass lines. He describes the song as “about not defining yourself so that other people can understand you. The evolved consciousness I’ve seen with my son and his generation/peer group regarding gender, identity, and human rights is the only hope for the future and informs all of Void Moments, which is ultimately an album about facing who we are.”
