Adages of books and covers aside, Cigarettes After Sex’s name has always been a great descriptor for what to expect from their music. The El Paso, Texas-based band makes murky, lovesick ballads that waft through the air like a smoky film. With the “Heavenly” from their upcoming album Cry, the band is at their most dreamlike and divine. The languid pace of the instrumentation and foggy vocals make for a steamy, peaceful rumination on the afterglow of love.
