Local quartet Versing has made the leap Seattle bands strive for - a Hardly Art signing. Sub Pop’s sister label has been a hub for breaking some of the best in Seattle’s scene such as Tacocat, Chastity Belt, and La Luz. It’s now Versing’s moment for a breakthrough with the release of their new album 10000 on May 3.
Our Song of the Day is the record’s lead single “Tethered,” a message of “how people are tied together,” frontman Daniel Salas says in a statement.
“It’s a reminder of the interconnectedness of humans, to people who make excuses for not doing the right thing,” Salas says.
He continues on to say the new record focuses on “critiques of centrism and conservatism, from a leftist perspective. That’s a theme: committing to something or doing something that may be hard but is the better option. However, when I write politically, it’s more allegorical and can be interpreted beyond the political realm. I find that more interesting to write about than my personal life.”
Versing’s record release show will take place Thursday, May 2 at Chop Suey with support from Big Bite and Hoop.
