Sharon Van Etten is releasing her fifth studio album, Remind Me Tomorrow, this Friday, January 18. Ahead of its release, she’s shared the singles “Comeback Kid,” “Jupter 4,” and “Seventeen.” The latter track is today’s Song of the Day, an anthemic ode to New York City and an “upbeat nod to Bruce Springsteen.” The song comes with a video directed Maureen Towey that focuses on Van Etten and an actress playing the seventeen-year-old version of Van Etten as they stomp around New York, showing off Van Etten’s old haunts and “The places that made her the musician that she is today,” according to Towey. “Some of these spots are still around, some are just empty lots now. We took an eye toward the city that was both tender and tough, trying to find the ways that a beautiful city can fall apart while still nurturing the hopes of a young artist.”

Remind Me Tomorrow follows 2014’s Are We There. In the years between the records, Van Etten became a mother as well as an actress, appearing in the show The OA. Sharon Van Etten will play the Neptune Theatre on Saturday, February 23. Watch the video for “Seventeen” below.
