Pearl Jam returned last month with a new single called “Can’t Deny Me.” The politically-charged song seems pointedly aimed at Donald Trump, with lyrics like “You may be rich but you can't deny me / Got nothing, got nothing but the will to survive / You can't control and you can't deny me," and “Watch as the roots take hold / the country you are representing / critical condition." Written by Eddie Vedder and Mike McCready, the song was recorded in Seattle in February of 2018 with producer Brendan O’Brien. The single’s artwork, which features a young woman on the front lines of a protest, was created by Jeff Ament and Kevin Shuss. “Can’t Deny Me” is said to be included on the legendary Seattle band’s next album but no other details about the album have been revealed. Their last studio full-length was 2013’s Lightning Bolt. This summer, Pearl Jam will be playing a two-night-stint at Safeco Field for what they’ve dubbed “The Home Shows,” on Wednesday, August 8 and Friday, August 10.
